Especially given that you literally can’t get the X7 with anything smaller than a 21" wheel. Even if you want to warn people about the risk of pothole damage, why tell them “Every wheel we offer you makes the car less comfortable”? Besides, all reviews say the X7 rides like it’s on a cloud...so “Look how comfortable we made this in spite of the big wheels”?
This reads like some sort of mandatory govt. disclosure, but I don’t think the government really gives a shit about the bouncy ride caused by your big wheels. Either way, I do love the X7. Now the only thing left to do is figure out how to afford one, because when I spec’d mine out the results were as follows:
Oh dear. This, a Navigator Black Label, or a G550? Maybe someday I’ll have to chose.

Cars have gotten too damn expensive. I couldn’t imagine spending 100k+ on a car like that.

Quick, check the wheel size on the Navigator Black Label.
/already has a Lincoln
/with ~31" tire spec for a 14" wheel

If I had huge cash and needed a daily that could still take people/stuff, I’d buy it. But then, I have always had a soft spot for huge ultra-luxury SUVs.

I would just get a base Macan S.
I don’t see myself needing something that large, even with a wife, child, and dog.

Id rather buy an old Navigator from the 2000s and use the rest of my money on my sports cars

I can somewhat understand that desire for one, I just don’t think I could ever pay for one.

‘Gator Black Label is 22" only.

Man the front end on these is ugly compared to previous models in my opinion....that grill is just way too garish...

What if I throw a 39" tire on it? That’ll give me some sidewall cushioning. Someone please by this and throw on some super tall mud tires.

Me either. But having owned one humongous luxury SUV, I can tell you that sometimes they’re just nice to be in.

Fair point. Whether or not I’d stand by my sentiment if I suddenly
had, say $130k to be spent solely on a car (or cars) I don’t know.

That I’d pay to see

I’ve spent 50k on a car before, so I could see myself spending 100k+ some d ay, but not for some SUV. I guess I just see them as too disposable to be worth that much.

With the size of the grill, it's starting to look like a rolls

I actually find this to be more visually pleasing than the Cullinan.

Yeah I can see where being tall & floaty would do that

That’s the BMW way. “Just so you know, this thing we’re selling you wasn’t designed to last. Better just lease it.”

I don’t think this is anything new. From a quick look, it looks like a 1999 7-series started around $60k (about $90k in today’s money), but higher end ones were in excess of $90k ($139k today).
New luxury cars, especially the big ones have always been expensive, and are really only supposed to be with reach of the rich.
I’d like to blame this on growing income inequality and a decreased need to cater to the middle class (because they don’t have the cash), but really, high end luxury cars are just always going to be priced outside of what most people can afford.

Given my dream car is only 60k, and my hatchback runabouts have done everything ive asked them to, 100k for “comfort” seems silly.
Well, comfort and unnecessary tech. Although air conitioned seats would be amazing.

I like my tires t h i c c

That’s not saying much. The Cullinan is ugly as hell in person imho.
I’ve seen a few X7s around and they blend in better than you might think. I usually have to do a double take to make sure it’s not an X5.

Lol like anyone buys those. Leases are where it’s at.
Because a $1500 payment for a car you’ll never own makes perfect sense.

That’s fair. Still seems like some have outpaced the rate of inflation. For example my E90 was ~ 65k new, which would be ~74k now, according to an internet inflation calculator . Most of the M3s I’ve seen on the dealer lot seem to all be north of 90k.

Agreed, although like WilliamsSW said, that isn't a huge accomplishment. With how many gorgeous designs under Rolls and Bentley over the years (not just old ones! Modern designs too!) I was really let down by their SUVs.

Can confirm, air conditioned seats are fantastic. As is the heated steering wheel.

I will say, I found something strangely satisfying about the way my dad’s Genesis and stepmom’s CTS (both RWD) with huge, chunky Blizzaks on them

Yup, spending the summer at a Bentley dealer did not help my opinion
of the exterior styling on the Bentayga. Nice car, but it be
ugly.

Oh that's right, how did that go?

We need more of that
Too many cars come with no-profile tires

I'm fairly confident that if I live another 50 years, I won't spend that much on all the vehicles I'll ever own combined. Unless someone hands me a winning Powerball ticket.
![]() 09/03/2019 at 15:04 |

Adjusted for inflation, of course. 50 years from now a new Civic will probably cost 100k.

G550

ah we finally agree on the redundancy of pickuptrucks.
![]() 09/09/2019 at 15:00 |

I love the G550, but the other two have the advantage of more room and an even smoother highway disposition.

No, you dumbfuck.
I was talking about an SUV that large.
Trucc™ is life.
![]() 09/09/2019 at 15:32 |

Oh, god, that’s embarrassing . I thought you were talking about the G LS 550. I love the new design of the GLS, and while it’s not as practical as the Lincoln due to unibody, I think it makes up in other areas.
Out of th e three original options I don’t find myself needing any? I guess I’d have the Lincoln because of the Ecoboost V6... I love that motor.
![]() 09/09/2019 at 15:34 |
|
I like the GLS as well, but it doesn’t compete with the navigator or the X7 on cool factor the way the G5 50 does.
![]() 09/09/2019 at 15:39 |
|
If we go by cool factor, I’d go for a PHEV Range Rover. In reality though, everyone that has reviewed the X7 think that the interior quality is very, very good, and on those levels I can imagine Lincoln would struggle.
Granted, to get the fancy leather on an X7 you’d need to spend significantly more money than what the Lincoln costs.
![]() 09/09/2019 at 16:33 |

Having been in a new Black Label, I can tell you that the interior quality is very good - leagues and levels above anything
they’ve done before.
